Presto, a municipality near Sucre, is one of Bolivia's poorest regions. Due to an assignment for an NGO we get to see a glimpse of rural Bolivia, which otherwise would have remained off-limits.

An assignment for the Belgian NGO Bevrijde Wereld brings us to the rural areas of Bolivia, which lie far away from any tourist itinerary. The assignment gives us a fascinating glimpse into Bolivia's hinterlands, of which we knew very little.

After 100 days of working on the Land Cruiser's overhaul the car is ready to be taken for a test drive. In order to give its second life a proper start we drive to Copacabana to have the car blessed at the town's cathedral.

The verdict: "The Land Cruiser needs to be stripped entirely in order to properly repair the damaged chassis." Are we happy with the verdict? No, not at all. Do we have a choice? No, not really. But as often happens in situations like this, the right people happen to cross our path.

We go back to the Salar de Uyuni which at this time of the year should be covered with a layer of water – according to pictures a mesmerizing sight. But whether it is global warming, El Niño or just bad luck: the Salar is as dry as it was two years ago.

A Bolivian wedding! Coen's cousin Jaap marries his Bolivian girlfriend Carla and in Cochabamba we, together with quite a delegation of Dutch friends and family, are witnesses of this special day.

After six months of more or less heavenly roads, the contrast with the Bolivian infrastructure comes as a shock. Endless kilometres through barren surroundings, crossing 4000 metres’ high passes and eating lots of dust.
