We go back to the Salar de Uyuni which at this time of the year should be covered with a layer of water – according to pictures a mesmerizing sight. But whether it is global warming, El Niño or just bad luck: the Salar is as dry as it was two years ago.

After six months of more or less heavenly roads, the contrast with the Bolivian infrastructure comes as a shock. Endless kilometres through barren surroundings, crossing 4000 metres’ high passes and eating lots of dust.
